Fire Fairy!

This weekend my family embarked on a year long project:  52 weeks of random acts of kindness and gratitude.  Over Thanksgiving, we were talking about being thankful and a family member asked my son.  They used the word gratitude, and my son was at first tripped up.  He didn’t know the word. He had to be reminded.  uhh ohh.  You see since last year, gratitude has been my thing, my go-to, my life changer.  The word is even in my business name.  I realized that even though the word gratitude is in my internal life, and in my business life, and in my internet life, my boys were not seeing me outwardly expressing it.  At least, they weren’t hearing me outwardly express the word grateful.  (We regularly do ‘appreciations’ at dinner, where we go around and mention one thing that we appreciate about each person.)

So we started.  My boys drew pictures and wrote “Have a happy start to your New Year” on pieces of paper that were turned into paper airplanes.  They then dressed the part, which for a 5 year old means wearing a bag, ala mail carrier style, and for my 8 year old means wearing a mysterious cape and taping the planes onto himself.  We then sneakily went from house to house delivering our messages.  The boys loved it so much that they went back to the table and made some more.

I have never been one to volunteer for others in need, or openly (or in this case sneakily) share some joy to strangers or neighbors. I tend to be more reserved and more focused on my own and my family’s needs.  This is going to be a new and joyful experience for me.  We had all decided on doing this before I decided on my word for the year, but I decided what a wonderful way to cultivate more joy in my life.  The act of creating the joy and giving it, was entirely joy making — a win win.

So if you receive something labeled from the “Gratitude Guild (aka the Peachy Sneaks)”, put a smile on your face and share the joy because sometimes you have to give joy to receive it.

To be honest though, we are feeling a little stuck about other things we can do.  We are open for suggestions.

What have you done in the past to share some love, in a random sneakily kind of way? : )

Have a wonderfully magical day full of joy and gratitude and then come back here and share!

love and light

MEM:

- 7 hours of sleep – pure sleep, snore-y dreamy sleep.  I don’t think I’ve experienced that for almost 2 years.  My dear hubby took baby girl and they cuddled together elsewhere last night so I can sleep.

-baby girl and my first music class together.  She loves music and I love the program so we should have fun.

-Lego class.  need I say more?

-yummy chai tea.   I don’t drink coffee, so this is my hot, rich tasting creamy replacement and I love it.

-I’m looking forward to a long meeting with our family doc.  I’m confident that with the help of some test results, we will have a clearer picture of my family’s health.

- my sweet son and his love and patience.  Baby girl wanted to be held while I was writing this.  I was frustrated and having a hard time focusing. He offered to take her and play while I’ve worked.

Spicy Fairy!

Hello everyone, and happy 5th day of December :D Today I’d like to talk about the power of giving ~ It’s pretty much implied that in December, we give “things” to each other, specifically on Christmas, but I think we should give throughout the whole month! This past weekend I was asked to demonstrate for the elderly with my belly dance teacher and another woman in our class, and as you can see in the pictures, we did! It was amazing to see them all smiling and laughing when we had them participate; feeling the power of giving them joy was amazing. I was smiling for the rest of the night! Today I’m giving blood for the American Red Cross through the school, and I’m so excited! Needles don’t scare me, and I love knowing that I’ll be able to save lives by doing something as easy as laying down and sacrificing a pint or so. I have plenty, so why not share? ;) I can just imagine the thankful faces that feel so grateful for my donation, and knowing that I’m helping someone just warms my heart so much. How can you help someone this week? :)

My Magic;

~ this Saturday is my best friend Mary’s birthday, and when I asked her if I could give her a mani/pedi/back massage she was so surprised and grateful, but unfortunately I can’t do it ~ she’ll be skiing. It was still magical to see her face light up <3

~ after belly dancing for the elderly we went to Five Guys; it was my first time, and I DEFINITELY plan on going again. :D

~ checking my email avidly waiting to hear back from Uconn!

~ getting a haircut and telling my hairdresser about Rutgers; she was shocked that I made it into such a competitive school! It made me proud of myself :)

~ Jingle Jam! This past Friday I went to a hip hop concert and saw two of my favorite rap artists, Wiz Khalifa and Drake. They killed it! I’m going to marry Drake, by the way. You can now call me Mrs. Alexa Spicy-Fairy Drake Graham-Pagnani. Rolls off the tounge, huh? ;)

So let me know how you plan on giving to others this month, I’d love to know! <3

Moments of Bliss: All you need is LOVE! 7/17/2011 July 17, 2011

Bliss Fairy giving a Little Hug

Moments of Bliss: All you need is LOVE!

This last Friday on the Aquarius Full Moon I set out on a sparkle mission to offer up FREE HUGS in my community. Some of you may recall an older post of mine where I made my first go at giving out free hugs. The big difference between that last adventure and this one was that this time I wasn’t alone.

Using the magic of the social network I sent out an invite to all my facebook friends to meet me at a local tourist hot spot on our island. Although I had another motive in choosing this area… to gift some hugs to the majority of  Guam’s Japanese tourist and with that I was looking to especially show my support to Japan post Earthquake and Tsunami disaster. The support we gave wasn’t of anything monetary but rather the simple gesture of hugging a stranger for no other reason than just because. I am continually surprised by how this little act of love can bring so much light and joy to a person’s heart, how in letting go to the moment the soul is filled with so much hope and promise. My face still hurts from all the smiling and laughing that went on that night. Watching all the happy faces was intoxicating! I had this event planned to last an hour but we were having so much fun that we all decided to keep pushing on for another 2 hours.

Before the event, the day had been really stormy as there was a tropical depression passing over our tiny island but I kept telling myself It didn’t matter I would find a way to still give out hugs as it just felt so appropriate to give them out on this day, and you know what…. Not a drop fell on us during the time we were offering up hugs to people. It did however sprinkle across the street from us but the rain just passed us by and after we were done a big down pour set in. I would like to believe that for three hours the magic of the Aquarian full moon that night kept the skies clear  just for us to be able to spread joy in our community, brightening up the world for even just a little while.

At some point in our adventure we decided to all walk through DFS a high end department store in the heart of  Guam’s tourism district. Going through the store we weren’t sure if we would have a warm welcome as this place is known for it’s atmosphere of propriety. Instead this place turned out to have the best huggers of the night especially from the store clerks who would crane their necks to see what the comotion was all about. Then at some point the store manger came out to ask if he could take a group picture of us and also requested we keep moving about the store and was told to ” keep spreading the love”.

I would have to say that this sparkle mission was most definitely accomplished!!! But for me the moment of bliss in all this was seeing my 4 year old being so eager to share the joy! (((HUGS))) is all you need!

The Sparkle Fairy Giving Free Hugs!

ANNOUNCEMENT: TWO of today’s posters will win $50!

“Giving” Magic

I’m sure all of us here on My Everyday Magic know that the BEST way to get something you want (whether it’s love, support, friendship, money, etc) is to give it away. I know when I show my husband support and understanding I receive it back tenfold. When I love my children unconditionally they reflect it back brilliantly. And when I give money away…I get MORE (and usually from unexpected places!). One Christmas I donated $150 to a family in need, even though I wasn’t sure I could afford it. Wouldn’t you know that a few days later I received $450 of unexpected checks in the mail! So, in light of this, I’m giving away $50 to TWO posters today ~ the GIVING makes me feel great and I also can’t wait to see how it comes back to me.

What do you want more of in your life? Try giving some away today and see how it comes back!
