The Star Fairy

Hello, lovelies!

Today speedy little Mercury moves into its own sign of Gemini,to join the Sun and Venus who are already there. Gemini is the sign of curiosity, of always wanting to find out more about all the interesting stuff out there… or in here. Curiosity, I thought, is akin to wonder, and so today’s wonder-full magic! See if you can be child-like today, and indulge your curiosity in some way. Maybe try driving or walking a different route, or pick up that book you feel curious about, even though its nothing like what you usually read. Or you could listen to a different radio station to see if you like it,  say hello to an interesting looking person, or try something different for lunch. Allow yourself the treat of following your interests, however momentary they may be. You’ll probably have a moment of fun, you might discover something wonderful!

Another kind of wondering magic is when you wonder how something will happen instead of drawing conclusions. For example you could wonder how a situation is going to work out instead of assuming it won’t or feeling hopeless because you can’t see how it will work out. Just for today, let’s assume that the fairies are working to make everything beautiful for us, and cheerfully wonder about how they will do it.

My wonder magic…

I wonder what needs to happen to get my printer working well again? I was printing an Herb Fairies story when it got messed up, so perhaps the fairies will help me out here!

I wonder how much more comfortable my kitties will become with our dog?

I wonder if I will again meet the woman I shared a lovely dog walk with this afternoon? Or the woman I met last Wednesday, who was also really cool? I wonder how many more wonderful folks I will meet while walking my dog?

I wonder if my kitty will catch the moth she is stalking as I type?

I wonder how I might manage to get to my friend’s wedding in CA in July?

I wonder how long the cinnamon rolls I made today will last?

I wonder if I’ll manage to get the new program I bought today to work tomorrow when I need to use it?

I wonder how many MEM folks will have as much fun with this idea as I’m having?

The Star Fairy

Hey, I finally came up with some good alliteration for Thursday!

I’m thrilled with all the ways in which the things I need are pretty much dropping in my lap, lately!  I wanted shelves for above my desk; I scored a lovely old bookcase that fits the space perfectly on freecycle!  All I had to do was send a couple emails and drive a couple miles to get it.  I wanted some outdoor chairs for ds’s upcoming birthday party, and again freecycle came through with 9 sturdy plastic chairs (that need a bit of scrubbing).

I’m also absolutely thrilled that my dog and cats are coexisting better.  Now in the evenings, often, the dog and one of the cats (the one in the picture) are hanging out in the same room… they like to be where I am, and are learning to tolerate each others presence.  I dream of the day when they will actually be friends, and enjoy being near each other.

I’m thrilled that my son is eating green things!  I made kale chips yesterday and he has been happily snacking on them.  Plus today at the natural foods store they had his favorite: sugar snap peas!  I bought 3 of the little bags, and he has already eaten one of them!

I am also quietly thrilled that I’ve done what I absolutely needed to do today and I get to go to bed, now, and this will be published while I am blissfully dreaming!

The Star Fairy

Have the skies been clear enough where you are to see the Moon, lately?  She’s been growing bigger and brighter each night.  Last night I saw her peeking out between the clouds, nearly a full circle but not quite.  Tonight ant tomorrow night she’ll be full and round.  She’ll rise as the Sun sets and set as the Sun rises for they are in what is called in astrology an opposition. An opposition can mean two energies are opposed to each other, but it can also mean they stand opposite, facing each other, as dance partners do.

The Moon mirrors the light of the sun and so we find ourselves mirrored in those we relate to: not just partners, but also friends, acquaintances, and the world in general.  Our children are perhaps the clearest mirrors of all.  Today, look around at all the mirrors, and realize you are their mirror, too!  We are all reflecting each other, especially with this Full Moon energy happening.  Remember when you see the good that is happening, and acknowledge that the good is in you, too.  When you see difficult things happening, don’t blame yourself for them!  Feel where they might connect with you inside, and heal that place with love!  We all have our easy areas where we flow so well, and we all have our struggles: love both, and everything in between!  Because the more you love, the more love will be reflected back to you, and the more you will be in tune with the truest, deepest nature of the Universe, which I just know is LOVE!

Flowers!  forsythia, daffodils and flowering quince are out now, here.  And indoors, I  have my orchids, some with blooms, and more with buds!

My son, my very best mirror!  His kindness to younger kids, his love of animals, his appreciation of stories, and also his distractability and complaining and sometimes reluctance to work at things… there is some of all this within me, as well.

Fried rice with veggies and cashews that I made myself for dinner last night: yum!

Chatting and flirting with a far away friend.  We’ve been flirting for decades, now, and its still so fun! And, yes, I appreciate facebook for connecting us!

AHH!!! I did a post last night so I wouldn’t have to do it this morning (I’m sooooo busy and hurried!) and it’s gooooooone!!! Damn Mercury Retrograde! I know many people have had wordpress issues and are unable to post here at all. So very quickly here’s some magic:

The Star Fairy

Today I am thinking about the many layers of magic I experience.  From the magic of waking up in the morning (even when I’m tired and want to sleep more), to sunshine, to friends, to the joys of the internet.  The more I pay attention, the more I see magic everywhere!  It’s the flowers on my desk, the purring kitty (the one in the picture) who is keeping me company, the friendly folks we meet while out with the dog, the fact that I can see, taste, smell, feel and hear, not to mention breathe!

Take a deep breath, and feel the magic that is you, existing, right here and right now!  Be as aware as often as you can of the magic within and around you… now, doesn’t that feel good?

MEM:

The wonderful people and playful dogs we met at the park, and the fact that the sun came out just when we got there!

The Star Fairy

Much of the joy in my life these days comes from Nature.  I love being outside, watching the changes that come with the seasons, and with day into night into day.  I find it very comforting to remember that I am a part of this great living Earth, and this beautiful dancing Universe.

And we can find the beauty of Nature in so many ways.  Getting outside is one way, but inside we can appreciate the light changing as the day goes on, or observing a growing houseplant, or stroking a beloved pet.  We can appreciate a piece of ripe fruit or a crisp vegetable.  We can even appreciate the sparkle of our own eyes in the mirror!

We can also feel the cycles of nature.  Today the Moon reaches fullness.  Can you feel the strong emotions and peaking energy that goes with that?  Open your heart and if you can, get out and enjoy the nighttime brightness!

MEM:

Snow!  It has lasted longer than I thought it would and I am so glad!  I love all four seasons and after this strangely dry and warm winter, I am so happy to have some snow and cold!  Really.  I love the blinding brightness of the sunshine on the snow, and its beautiful glow in the moonlight!  I love the crunch of it under my feet when I walk the trails with my dog.

My dog!  It is so so good for me to be required to get outside a few times every single day.  Even when I feel too tired or grumpy, once I am out and walking, I feel refreshed!

The evening sky!  Venus is rising, night by night, to meet Jupiter high in the west after sunset.  And I was out walking the dog Wednesday evening after sundown as the sky gradually darkened and the nearly full Moon, which had risen over the trees in the east, seemed to grow brighter and brighter… so beautiful!

Birds!  I’ve seen and heard red winged blackbirds, and bluebirds, as well as grackles, crows, robins, chickadees and lots of dark eyed juncos!  Yesterday my son and I observed a red winged hawk in our neighbor’s tree.  They all know spring is coming.

Sunshine!  The days are getting longer and the last couple have been very clear and sunny.  I am just loving it!

The wind!  It can be very chilly, but once I’m walking and warm, I enjoy it’s cooling.  And the song of the wind in the trees is just lovely.

The sound of running water.  Recent rain and snow have replenished local streams and the snow is slowly melting so the soothing sound of running water is easy to come by.

Chocolate truffles!  I was feeling so sleepy this afternoon and my boy suggested we get a treat after his (very well done!) swim lesson.  So we got some extra dark chocolate truffles, and both enjoyed them immensely!  It was just the thing to wake me up a little!  So thank you cacao trees in distant, tropical lands, and thank you everyone who brought their essence here to me on this winter’s day!

The Star Fairy

It’s snowing here in Star Fairy land, and my family is enjoying it very much!  From the looks of the forecast it is going to melt quickly, so I encouraged my 7yo son to get bundled up and outside shortly after he got out of bed.  I showed him how easily this wet snow packs, and we built a snow fort!  In the midst of this he held up a small snowball and cried “The Arkenstone of Thrane!” (A reference to a gem in The Hobbit, which we have been immersed in of late).  In the meantime, our dog was bouncing around in the snow, and lying down fully stretched out in the snow, and having a lovely time.

So, today I am calling for playful magic!  Because in between shoveling and walking the dog and driving dh to pick up his car at the garage, I made time to roll huge snowballs and build a snow fort, and it was FUN!

I playfully suggest that you watch for opportunities to PLAY today!  And when you see them, seize the moment (even if it’s only a moment) and do something purely for the joy of it.  I think you will find that it brightens your day and lifts your spirits.

a small pile of interesting books to read, including both adult non-fiction and kid fiction  to read to my son.  And one of the non fiction books is about how wolves became dogs and I know I will be passages from it to my animal-loving boy.
