Yesterday was just magical.  Everything about it felt timeless and flowing.  Everyone we talked to was amazed at the way the time passed.  We did many wonderful things, but it felt like we did nothing at all at the same time.  It was peaceful.  Reflecting on this interesting and pleasant day, we realized that there is a collective consciousness that comes on weekends in most of the world.  Saturday and Sunday carry a different energy about them – whether it be a holy day, or days off of school or work.  We step out of the predictability (and often chaos) of the week and slow down, relax a bit more, celebrate, get outside.  We connect with one another.  We do stuff just for the fun of it.  We live more “in the now”.  Across the globe we all do it together, in one way or another.  Our energies combine, creating a universal, collective energy.  Think about how you both experience and contribute to the global web connecting us all.  You have an infinite amount of power within you.  Did you know that?  Just imagine what we are capable of accomplishing when we join together!  One of the best ways of achieving this is by doing things that make you happy, and sending good energy out to the world.

Here’s what that looked like for us:

*Pulling our 1yo around in the wagon!

*Tidying up the house!

*Lots of good food (smoothies, homemade burritos and dinner out – with tons of leftovers!)

*Having fun with my dad and his wife!

*Unintentionally learning to dig clams and getting a whole bag full!

*Finishing one knitting project, starting and finishing another knitted vest and picking out colors for a hat I’m making for myself!

*Feeling relaxed and enjoying ourselves all day!

*Honey soaked kisses! (we’re drinking hyssop & mint tea for my lungs/breathing)

*Frog songs!

*Thinking and talking about Kate all day!  ;)

*Watching how all the kids played with each other!

*Having mini-ceremonies of putting love and bliss out into the world!

Sparkle Fairy!

So this week we’ve had BIG DREAMS with our Fire Fairy, we were FULL OF WONDER with our Star Fairy…now I think it’s time to take a large leap into our dreams and wonders and DARE OURSELVES to get it started! Is there something you KNOW you’re supposed to be doing but keep putting it off? Is there a little something that keeps popping it’s head back up BEGGING for you to pay attention? DARE YOURSELF to take a step, even a baby one, in that direction.

There’s something I’ve been called to do and it’s taken 3 weeks of baby steps to get there. Yesterday I did it…okay actually WE did it, because this involves my beloved hubby. It was new. We were nervous. We talked. We researched. We joked. We played. And yesterday we got it done. (I’m not ready to share it yet, but you can bet’cha that I will soon.) Today I feel triumphant! Daring ourselves can be sooooo scary…but it is ALWAYS so worth it, ’cause really we’re daring ourselves to be the MAGNIFICENT MASTERS we are. What MAGNIFICENCE are you going to dare yourself to do?

My Magic

* Just feeling DAMN GOOD!

* My wonderful, incredible FABULOUS hubby!

* Yummy bacon for breakfast…and watermelon and toast and red clover lemonade!

* Sharing my red clover lemonade with my baby!

* BBQ chicken, corn, and herbed garlic bread for dinner last night.

* Our family is feeling INCREDIBLY happy lately. Every day at least one person says “I love our family!” ♥

* Feeling like hubby and I are in on a secret! (Is the suspense killing you?)

* A three day weekend!

* Going to Michael’s by myself yesterday and spending over an hour coming up with creative ideas that I CAN’T WAIT to implement!!!

* Spray painting garden pots with my 7 year old at 8:00pm last night!

* Life OUTSIDE THE COMFORT ZONE!

Hello, friends!  I hope you’ve had an absolutely magical week thus far!  I’ve especially loved the “Dreaming Big” and “I Wonder” magic this week!  What fun!

It’s been a rollercoaster kind of week for us.  Fortunately, I have been very grounded lately so when the ups and downs occurred, I’ve just taken it all in stride.   I’m loving that feeling.  It’s been a few years since I’ve felt this way — grounded, and able to handle things in stride — and I must say, I like it!!!!

Today is my sister’s birthday — so happy birthday big sis!!!  We’re heading out tomorrow for an overnight for baseball — so that should be fun.  I get to spend the weekend with my beloved.  And, my house is clean — so where I’m sitting it looks like the makings of a great start to (for many of you) a long weekend!!!

The Star Fairy

Hello, lovelies!

Today speedy little Mercury moves into its own sign of Gemini,to join the Sun and Venus who are already there. Gemini is the sign of curiosity, of always wanting to find out more about all the interesting stuff out there… or in here. Curiosity, I thought, is akin to wonder, and so today’s wonder-full magic! See if you can be child-like today, and indulge your curiosity in some way. Maybe try driving or walking a different route, or pick up that book you feel curious about, even though its nothing like what you usually read. Or you could listen to a different radio station to see if you like it,  say hello to an interesting looking person, or try something different for lunch. Allow yourself the treat of following your interests, however momentary they may be. You’ll probably have a moment of fun, you might discover something wonderful!

Another kind of wondering magic is when you wonder how something will happen instead of drawing conclusions. For example you could wonder how a situation is going to work out instead of assuming it won’t or feeling hopeless because you can’t see how it will work out. Just for today, let’s assume that the fairies are working to make everything beautiful for us, and cheerfully wonder about how they will do it.

My wonder magic…

I wonder what needs to happen to get my printer working well again? I was printing an Herb Fairies story when it got messed up, so perhaps the fairies will help me out here!

I wonder how much more comfortable my kitties will become with our dog?

I wonder if I will again meet the woman I shared a lovely dog walk with this afternoon? Or the woman I met last Wednesday, who was also really cool? I wonder how many more wonderful folks I will meet while walking my dog?

I wonder if my kitty will catch the moth she is stalking as I type?

I wonder how I might manage to get to my friend’s wedding in CA in July?

I wonder how long the cinnamon rolls I made today will last?

I wonder if I’ll manage to get the new program I bought today to work tomorrow when I need to use it?

I wonder how many MEM folks will have as much fun with this idea as I’m having?

So, I’m going to get brave and Dream Big.  Please share one or two things that you want to happen soon-ish.  Let this be part of your manifestation of your dream.   Oh, and don’t forget the power of fairy magic.  Posting it here will definitely give it more power.

- A house.  A house of my very own for myself and my husband and my three kids.  A place where we can play outside.  A place where I can plant healing plants, eating plants and just beautiful plants.  Fruit trees.  Climbing trees, good smelling trees.  A few good rocks for climbing and playing on.  Space for running.   Easy access to the commuter rail for hubby.  Visual outside space with either a creek nearby, or a pond, or a forest.  I so badly need nature. Inside: an office where I can go and be at peace.  A guest space.  I’m a good cook and I love a nice kitchen to work in, so a good sized kitchen that has adequate counter space.  Lots of storage space.  I would prefer more storage space and less living space.

-losing weight.  It’s been a struggle since the Fall.  I’m refusing to buy new clothes, but I only have a few things that fit on my bottom half.  sigh.  So by the end of summer, all of my clothes will be comfortably loose and I will be ready to buy some new things.

- Time for myself, Time for my business, Time for myself and my hubby.  Peace for me while I work, and a feeling that I’m not always in a rush.

Spicy’s Senior Prom!

Here’s for catching up! I apologize for messing up last week, but I think all my ladies on here will appreciate today’s theme; beauty. As a 17 year old girl, I find keeping up with this aspect of life crucial, not only on the outside, but on the inside! I don’t know about you, but when I make the effort to look good, I feel better overall. However, when I recognize how beautiful life is in general, I feel more beautiful inside. You can buy make-up to look beautiful, but there’s no cosmetic for inner beauty. If you see above, these are some of my best friends. Aren’t they stunning? Part of the reason why they look so fresh is because they are absolutely gorgeous on the inside as well, which to me, make the difference. Since I don’t think we can post pictures as comments, why don’t you reminisce & share a moment (or more ) that you felt absolutely beautiful, inside and out! I’d love to hear these, because I know I love reminiscing on my moments.

These are the lyrics to one of our favorite meal blessings (We Give Thanks), sung by our friends Laurence Cole, Aimee Ringle & Amy Kelley (click on the link for a clip of the song – the whole CD is great!).  We have been eating so much delicious food lately, it seemed appropriate to celebrate Food Magic today!!!

Our family has had an extra focus on nourishing foods over the last few weeks.  It’s amazing what little shifts in what we eat and the way we feel about our food have on our bodies!  We are feeling more ALIVE and have more energy!  We eat raw for most of the day, filling up on green smoothies, salad, fresh fruit, veggies and nuts.  I am shocked how full I feel most of the time, now that my body is getting the nutrition it needs.  I don’t have the same cravings I used to.  For dinner we have been eating a dairy-free, wheat-free meal, usually cooked.  We bless our water each morning too – it’s a wonderful way to start the day!  When possible, we pick the food from our garden and greenhouse minutes before we prepare it.  Living food tastes good and makes us feel better!  We have also been making our food look gorgeous – using lots of color, texture, patterns and flowers to dress it up!  Food should look pretty too!

One of the most important things I have learned over the last few weeks is that eating well doesn’t have to be all or nothing.  In the past I have beaten myself up for eating something I thought was “bad” for me.  The last few weeks this seems to have changed.  I don’t criticize myself for messing up.  I enjoy everything I take into my body.  I love it and experience it fully, savoring every moment.  We must love our food – it gives it super powers!

Here’s our Food Magic from this week:

-Raw Berry Pie (aka. “The Pie That Will Change the World!” – It’s super easy.  Pulse almonds and dates in a food processor until it forms a sticky “crust”, and push it into a dish up the sides and all.  Slice 1lb. strawberries on top.  Blend 1lb. strawberries, a few dates and half a lemon and pour on top.  Let it soften up – YUM! – or eat right away.  It’ll change your life!)

-Salads with lettuce, chard, nuts, avocado, tomato, purple cabbage, chickpeas, carrots, peppers and kale flowers.  Oh my!!!

-Picking rhubarb for rhubarb crisp!  (and going to the store to buy vanilla ice cream to go with it.  tee hee hee)

-Green smoothies!

-Steak from the cows at my sons’ school!

-Salmon with homemade “fries” (potatoes with nutritional yeast and salt baked in the oven)

-Dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds.  Swoon.

Other Magic:
-Meal planning for our wedding!

-Going for a 5 mile bike ride with our whole family almost every day this week!

-Yemma’s great doctor’s visit!  She’s continuing to do great!  She’s in the 10th percentile for weight, and her lungs are clear, despite having had some bad colds recently.

-Tim has had lots and lots of work (despite the broken toe)!

-Scoring the most incredible batik silk jacket at a garage sale today for $2!

-Planning a women’s ceremony with all my dearest women friends right before our wedding ceremony!

I’ve been writing on my friend, Michelle’s, super-cool website for months now. One of my very favorite streams of consciousness that has been going on recently over there is the “This is Me” series. Each blogger has been taking turns writing out a list of things that make us uniquely US. Yesterday was my turn, and I have to say it was as much fun writing out that list as our True Confessions is here on My Everyday Magic. It’s also been so much fun reading what others have to say ~ some nice, some naughty, and always awesome.

Here’s the first part of my list:

* I sometimes feel like I don’t truly belong blogging here as I’m home with my children all day and I only work at naptimes and I don’t make very much money.

* Some people think I must be incredibly patient since I homeschool and am with my children all the time. I am becoming more patient as the years go by, but it is by no means a natural virtue of mine.

* The only way I can homeschool is to unschool ~ unschooling is allowing the children to lead their own learning and pursue their own interests. If I had to sit down with a curriculum I would not last a single hour.

* I’ve always laid down with my babies during naptime ~ ALWAYS. It’s my downtime, worktime and I really look forward to it. Most days there is nothing more important to me than naptime.

* I allow my children to watch TV, ipads and play video games and I don’t really worry about this at all. We bought our 7 year old his own ipad for his last birthday.

* I believe my husband is a genius and he’s my absolute favorite person to talk to.

* I’d rather be proud of my children for who they are, than what they do.
